The capital, as well as the southwestern part of Iceland, has seen a heavy overnight snowfall that continues until now. It is reported that numerous roads are temporarily closed due to the weather.
The Icelandic Met Office has announced a yellow alert for weather in Reykjavik – Capital Region, South Iceland, Southwest Iceland, Breidafjörður, Westnorthwest Iceland, Southeast Iceland and the Highlands of Iceland. There have been reports of many cars being stuck in the snow, therefore, local police encourages residents of Reykjavik to not use cars and work from home if possible.
The schedule of the local bus service has also been affected. Changes in the schedule can be monitored here.
